Competitor Check-In Station

Contestants must bring competition dogs to the IJA check-in station to confirm registration

and receive a table assignment before each class start.

  • IJA opens the check-in station 60 minutes before the competition begins.

  • Contestants must complete all check-in procedures before entering the contest ring.

  • Contestants will be assigned a table after completion of check-in procedures.

  • IJA closes the check-in station 15 minutes before the competition begins.

  • Contestants must complete check-in 15 minutes prior to the start of the competition.

  • Competitors are not checked in within the required time frame cannot compete.

 

Exceptions to the Rule:

Contestants who place in a previous class who are required to have promotional photos

taken immediately after awards, may check-in up to 5 minutes before competition start.

The competitor should notify the check-in desk for late arrival.

 

Qualification of the Competition Dog

The following information must be confirmed to qualify competition dog during prejudging

time frame. Competition dog:

  • Must be competition dog age

    • Mature enough but young enough to enjoy the competition

    • Suggested age approximately (1) one year to (10) ten years.

    • Responsibility of competitors to determine if the dog is healthy enough.

      • If found during check-in or during the competition, the age of a dog is affecting the safety of dogs, the judging panel will notify competitors to discontinue the competition.

  • Must be in compliance with applicable vaccinations for city, county, state, or the country hosting competition.

  • Must show no signs of obvious pregnancy or nursing.

  • Must appear healthy, free of infectious diseases, and parasites.

  • Must be physically able to stand on the grooming table for competition time frame and judging.

  • Must show no signs of aggression or viciousness.

  • Must be on safety lead or safety loop when not in a crate.

  • Must be under control and may not be left unattended while on the grooming table.

  • Must be properly crated and cared for, with food and water, when left in the secure holding area, hotel room or other accommodations.

Entry Confirmation - Pure Breed Classes

Entry must be confirmed dog is entered into the correct class and time frame.

  • Must be correct breed for class, if applicable.

  • Must be entered into the correct time frame, if applicable.

  • Must be measured to confirm the time frame, if applicable.

  • Must be confirmed conformation show trims are required.

 

Entry Confirmation - Free Style Classes

Entry must be confirmed dog is entered into the correct class and time frame.

  • Must be a mixed breed or a pure breed trimmed in a pet trim or a free style trim.

  • Must be measured to confirm the time frame, if applicable.

  • Must be entered in the correct time frame, if applicable.

 

Pre-Judge Documentation

The judging panel documents the following about a competition dog.

  • Amount of coat growth.

  • Amount of pre-set coat growth pattern

  • Missing coat, ear infection, etc.

  • If competition dog is supplied or if the competitor has groomed dog previously.

 

Confirm with Competitor

The following information must be confirmed with the competitor to eliminate confusion after

start of the competition.

  • Correct start time for class or level.

  • The correct time frame for breed or class.

 

Photo Station

The competitor and competition dog must proceed to the photo station where the pre-contest photo

will be taken. Dogs will be measured, if applicable, in the photo station or in the ring.

 

Table Assignment Area

The competitor and competition dog must proceed to the table assignment area at ringside. IJA

the team will direct competitor to table or competitor may receive table assignment during

check-in procedures.

 

Station Set-Up Time

Station set-up time begins after the check-in procedure and ends 15 minutes before

the competition starts. Contestants must check their equipment and electrical power at this

time.

 

Competitor Meeting: 10 Minutes Before Start Time

Contestants must be at their tables in the ring 10 minutes before the competition begins to attend competitor meetings conducted before the start of each class. Time frames, awards, Johnnie Break, and other changes in procedures will be announced at this time.

 

Competition Start

Competitions will begin on schedule unless conditions exist beyond the control of IJA or show promoter.
