ONSITE MODEL DOG SCHEDULE

 

8:15 AM - 8:30 AM CONFIRM ATTENDANCE

  • Attendance checked to confirm participants and observers.

  • Participants and observers not prepaid can go to IJAonline.com to make payment at the site.  

 

8:30 AM - 8:45 AM EVALUATION FORM AND JUDGING CONSIDERATIONS

  • Evaluation form discussed and what judges look for in competition. 

    • 4 major judging considerations in competition explained. 

    • Technical - Profile - Difficulty - Professionalism discussed.

 

8:45 AM - 10:00 AM PLACING WIG AND PROPER BRUSH AND COMB OUT

  • The trainer demonstrates how to place the wig on the dog and properly brush and comb the coat. 

    • Demonstrates the best tools to use on the coat to prevent over-brushing and breaking coat.

    • Demonstrates best products for brushing and holding coat for tie up and head styles. 

    • Demonstrates the best tools to use to scissor and clipper coat. 

 

9:00 AM -9:45 AM TAKE BEFORE PHOTOS WITH ATTENDEES

  • The trainer takes before photos with participants to document the type of wig and amount of coat. 

    • Pet Wig

    • Show Wig

    • Wrap Wig

 

9:45 AM - 10:00 AM          BREAK

 

10:00 AM - 1:00 PM COMPETITION START - FINISH WITH 15 MINUTE JOHNNIE BREAK 

  • IJA competition rules, policies, and procedures are used for the model dog competition. 

  • IJA Competition Times are assigned to prepare competitors for future competitions. 

  • Trainer assists participants during the competition to allow competitors to achieve the best results. 

  • Evaluation forms are documented by trainers during model dog competition to help competitors improve.

 

1:00PM - 1:15PM COMPETITION FINISH - AFTER COMPETITION PHOTOS

  • After Competition Photos are taken to send to competitors after the training. 

  • Trainer conducts evaluations on technical skills, profile, and expression on each competition dog and documents on the evaluation form to send to participants after the training.

 

1:15PM - 2:00PM             LUNCH

 

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EXPLANATION OF PLACEMENTS

  • Trainer discusses placement with competitors and asks competitors to place each other in order.

  • Trainer lines dog up in order of placement by competitors.  

  • Trainer lines dog up in order of placement by the trainer and justify placements by discussing technical, profile, difficulty, and professionalism scores.

 

3:00PM - 3:15PM             BREAK

 

3:15 PM - 5:00 PM EVALUATION AND MAKEOVER OF COMPETITION DOGS

  • The trainer takes competition dogs and makes suggestions and corrections to achieve the highest scores. 

  • Competitors work on dogs to achieve a better finish, expression, and profile. 

5:00 PM - 5:30 PM AFTER EVALUATION PHOTOS

  • The trainer uses After Competition Photos to compare and evaluate dogs after suggestions and corrections are made. 

  • After Evaluation, Photos are taken to assist competitors in better understanding the suggestions and corrections such as how to level topline - how to move tuck up forward - best system to create balance.
