Byoung Hwan You




Byunghwan (Randy) Yoo, of South Korea, began his love and life with dogs in 1986 when he fell in love with Boxers. His career began in the conformation ring but has since expanded into to the dog grooming competition arena and pet care education .


In 1988, he started attending and enjoying conformation dog shows with his Boxers. This was a hobby at first until he decided to become a professional breeder and handler for the American Cocker Spaniel in 1998 under his kennel name "Malibukennel.”


His success in the conformation ring includes:


  • Breeding over 50 Korean Champions of Boxers, Miniature Schnauzers, American Cocker Spaniels, Dobermans, Bichon Frises, Toy Poodles, Standard Poodles and Chihuahuas.


  • In 2003, he is qualified for conformation judge at KKA (Korea Kennel Association).


Since 2004, he has been teaching handling skills at schools and private academies.


In 2018, he became qualified in pet grooming and since this time he has been advancing his expertise by obtaining licenses to become a grooming teacher, instructor and in 2016 achieved his master level license


He is still actively involved in conformation dog shows and has transitioned into judging dog grooming competitions and is an active IJA Judge internationally..


His passion for teaching others led Randy to the next step in his career. He opened his own grooming academy, Yoo Byunghwan Dog Grooming Academy, and is a dedicated committee member of the Practical Grooming Skill Manual of the National Pet Stylist License.


Currently, he is

- a breeder of Toy Poodles, Bichon Frises and Lakeland Terriers

- owner and operator of "Yoo Byunghwan Dog Grooming Academy"

- an active judge with the Korean Kennel Club

- an adjunct professor at Seoul Arts College

- a supervisor for the National Pet Stylist examinations in South Korea


His career and accomplishments in dog grooming competitions include:

  • 1st Place of Spaniel & Setter Class at the 1st Asian Dog Grooming Contest of EGA, 2016

  • Bronze Prize at the 100th Memorial Dog Grooming Contest of Korean Kennel Club, 2016

  • Grand Prize & Award Certificate from Hong Ilpyo, a member of National Assembly, at the 90th Dog Grooming Contest of Korean Kennel Club, 2015

  • Silver Prize at the 91th Dog Grooming Contest of Korean Kennel Club, 2015

  • Bronze Prize at the 93th Dog Grooming Contest of Korean Kennel Club, 2015


He is specialized in grooming for American Cocker Spaniel, Golden Retriever, English Springer Spaniel, Miniature Schnauzer, Lakeland Terrier, West Highland White Terrier, Bichon Frise, Bedlington Terrier and Poodles.
